We’ve had lots of hand-me-downs that were never used and ate at our coffee table for years. It feels so much like a real family to sit in our new eating area, and we definitely linger and talk more. Love it! Claire Topllis needaphone May 20, 2012 at 11:59 am Gosh I am from the Uk and I have to admit my dining table is full of my crafting items. I must clear it and sit down for a sit down family meal. x Andrea talesofgoodness April 4, 2013 at 3:03 pm I couldn’t help but click through when I saw the title. I mean, who doesn’t struggle with family happiness at mealtime from time to time. One other thing that really helps us is saying grace. We’re not particularly religious, but having a small ceremonial (as you say) opening helps set the tone for the kids – i.e. it’s “family time”.
