I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and this year we have multiple 5+ earthquakes including a horrific one in February (6.2) which has flattened our city and killed almost 200 people. You can’t think rationally in anything over about a 5ish…staying put is impossible if your children are in a different room – youll faster than you ever moved before to get to them! You can read my account of the earthquake here: http://www.kiwimummyblogs.co.nz/pregnancy-diary/pregnancy-diary-weeks-28-29-the-earthquake/ Emily B emmieb November 21, 2011 at 7:19 pm Oh, Jenn. You are correct – the whole house needs to be strapped down! I’m very glad you’re all alright. Thank you so much for sharing! Amy Peace4Parents November 22, 2011 at 8:08 am Thank you for these important reminders, Emily. With what is going on in our world these days it is important to keep these in mind where ever we are. 🙂 Thank you also, Jenn, for your additions.
