We are fortunate to live in Pennsylvania and engage in all of these activities! We have a garden in our yard, currently harvesting strawberries and blueberries! We attend our local farmer’s market on Sunday mornings and schmooze with the farmers and get to know them and their processes. Then, during the winter, we belong to a CSA; they store roots and grow greens in a solar green house.

We have a 5 month old baby and it is so exciting to take him to the garden or market and let him experience where food comes from as he begins to eat it!

one of my dream structures in our backyard is a solar green house – if only to protect our plants from pesky critters!

We have netting over our garden, a tiny fence around it, and my husband hung old CDs around to keep the birds away (a suggestion from a farmer friend). So far, minimal critters.
