NPN’s Flickr Launch and Contest: What Does Natural Parenting Really Look Like?

NPN's Flickr Launch and Contest: What Does Natural Parenting Really Look Like?

Introducing a new way to connect with other natural parents and share your talent for photography (not to mention your adorable subject matter): The Natural Parents Network Flickr Pool! Our new public Flickr group is waiting to be filled with the many varied views of natural parenting from our readers’ eyes. And what better way to celebrate our community of families and shutterbugs than with a contest?

How to Participate

Natural Parents Network Flickr Pool Contest

To participate in the NPN Flickr Pool Contest (the “Contest”), we invite you to add your original photos of What Natural Parenting Really Looks Like to the NPN Flickr Pool.

Photos submitted to the NPN Flickr Pool from now through April 30, 2013 (extended from March 31!) will be considered entries into the Contest.

Please read the full Contest Rules before submitting your photos. By contributing photos to the NPN Flickr Pool, you are affirming that you have read and agree to NPN’s Photo Submission/Contest Rules.

We’re looking for high quality, beautiful, tender, funny, but above all honest digital depictions of natural parenting. We are interested in images that showcase one or more of the principles of the natural parenting lifestyle.

Natural Parents Network Photo Contest

Please enter only photographs you are comfortable being published on Natural Parents Network (including our social media accounts, newsletters, etc.), whose subjects have given their consent to the same. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast) will be disqualified.

Please caption each submission with the photo’s title and a short description.

Each photo must be submitted via Flickr™ to the NPN Flickr Pool. If you do not have a Flickr account, you can sign up for free at Flickr.com using your Yahoo! or Google ID or Facebook login.

Each group member may add up to four images per day.

Contest is open to all amateur photographers. Please, no watermarks or professional photographs.

How to Vote and Win

Party!

Deadline for submitting entries to the Flickr pool is 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time on April 30, 2013. Submission implies that you give Natural Parents Network permission to use your photos with attribution.

From May 1-15, 2013, our contestants, readers and volunteers will vote by “favoriting” the photos they like best. To add a photo to your favorites, sign into your Flickr account, go to the picture you want to “favorite,” look at the top left corner of the screen, and click on the star next to the word “favorite.” Once the star turns pink, you have “favorited” that photo.

Photos that don’t meet the criteria above may be entered and judged but may not be honored as finalists at the Natural Parents Network editors’ sole discretion.

On May 16, 2013, our editorial team will tally the votes and the twenty photos – chosen via a combination of first round voting and judging by a panel of natural parents (the cofounders and three volunteers from NPN) will go head-to-head in a voting-enabled featured post from May 21-31 here on Natural Parents Network. We encourage you to drum up support for your own photos — or those you admire! — by sharing the link on Facebook and Twitter, as eight entries (and the editors’ favorite) will win an assortment of fabulous prizes and a place of honor in their very own Wordless Wednesday post. (Again, the top eight will be selected based on a combination of votes + judging by our panel.)

Of course, once the contest ends, the Flickr pool will remain a great place to share your best photos and get some inspiration. Plus, you never know when your work might pop up on NPN (hint: keep an eye out on Wednesdays)!

I would love to join the contest as I have so many beautiful photos which truly capture Natural Parenting…though I don’t have a yahoo account and I don’t want to start, yet another account, and it seems this is the only way? I tried signing in through Facebook, yet it still asks for a yahoo account? Oh well I guess…anywhere else I could post photos to share?
