It’s scary to think that someone else might react negatively toward you, even though you are completely within your rights. And I’ve found the same thing you did – the children just shrug it off and go on about their business. It doesn’t bother them until someone *tells* them it should. Such a shame – and exactly why I will continue to go out of my way to make sure my son is exposed to nursing moms as he matures. Thanks for sharing your story! Angela EarthMamasWorld February 16, 2012 at 3:55 pm I am so happy to read this. I nurse in public all of the time. Last week I sat on a bench at the zoo to nurse my little one. My 3 year old daughter sat next to me and proceeded to nurse her baby doll as well! Thank you for sharing your story. Lauren Hobo_Mama February 16, 2012 at 3:58 pm Aw! I love kids’ reactions — they usually are so matter-of-fact about it. mommas February 17, 2012 at 2:30 am you’re very brave and so happy for moms like you who breastfeed beyond infancy in public!! my daughter is nursing at 3 and reacts very positively when she sees other children “doing the boobies”! 🙂 she actually pretended to nurse her dolly last week to comfort her and i was so excited that not only was i able to nurse her, but give her a positive connection to breastfeeding that she may pass on one day as a mother herself 🙂 Hannah hannabert February 17, 2012 at 3:51 pm The last time I nursed at public (church cry room) two of the other little girls came over and asked what I was doing and then asked if they could go next! katie clothdiaperbabe February 20, 2012 at 6:02 pm way to go! when i lived in Tanzania, all the women nursed in public, but it was culturally inappropriate to show leg past your knees. here, women flaunt every body part they’ve got with scandalous clothes, but when a woman tried to nurse in public, she’s looked at with disgust! something’s wrong here..
