From our reviewer: Amy Willa of Me, Mothering and Making It All Work

If you’ve ever wanted to “go green” with your family but aren’t sure where to start, Raising Green Kids is an easy place to begin! From food-safe re-useable snack and sandwich bags to affordable art supplies made from all-natural, certified non-toxic ingredients, Raising Green Kids offers a comprehensive selection of eco-friendly and economical family goods that any household would love.

Though major changes like buying (or growing) fully organic or using rain barrels can seem daunting to some families, Dorinda (owner of Raising Green Kids) encourages families to make small changes in their lifestyles to be more eco-friendly. She recommends recycling, reducing waste, and using non-toxic cleaning products as good places to start raising green kids.

Check out the re-useable storage and snack bags to start reducing waste, and the adorable toy recycling truck to encourage a recycling-friendly lifestyle in your little ones’ play! These Raising Green Kids items are only a small sample of what the store has to offer to help your family go and stay green!

If you’ve ever wanted to “go green” with your family but weren’t sure where to start, Raising Green Kids is an easy place to begin! From food-safe re-useable snack and sandwich bags to affordable art supplies made from all-natural, certified non-toxic ingredients, Raising Green Kids offers a comprehensive selection of eco-friendly and economical family goods that any household would love. Dorinda “is committed to raising green children,” and she hopes that by making natural, non-toxic, and ecological home goods, toys, and art supplies affordable and available, she can inspire and empower others to do the same.

Dorinda says that when it comes to becoming more green, “It’s much easier to not get overwhelmed when you do one thing, complete it, and then move on to the next thing.” She advises parents try starting with one eco-friendly thing, “whether it’s recycling, reducing your energy out-put, using less plastic, switching over to non-toxic cleaners or where ever you would like to start.”

And for those of us who are nervous about chasing the “next green thing” and failing to follow through, Dorinda offers this personal anecdote: Even she was nervous when she made her first green decision as a mom!

“Before I became a mother I recycled and composted and tried to eat healthy. After I became a mother, the biggest change we made as a family was living a non-toxic lifestyle. We switched over to natural cleaners, sunscreens, lotions etc. I hadn’t switched over before because it seemed like such a daunting task, but the more I read about chemicals in cleaning and body products, the more I realized that we needed to take this step, and it turned out to not be so daunting after all.”

Please visit Raising Green Kids to browse and purchase great products like compostable plates for your next BBQ, or certified nontoxic, all natural Clementine Natural Paint, which is colored by plant based and mineral pigments only for safe creative fun! My favorite product is the To-Go Ware RePEaT Bamboo Utensil Set. Even the beautiful, slim, handy pouch that houses the travel silverware is green: it’s made of RPET, a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles! Too cool!
