Our son is due in early January and our daughter turns 2yo next month. I’ve been a bit concerned about the adjustment, especially since I’m not quite sure how much of our preparation she “gets.” As for the controversy about praising, I don’t think your examples (for the most part) are praising… just speaking good about the baby’s future relations with the older sibling. Big brother WILL teach _____. It’s just a fact. 🙂 I’m already telling Sasha that she’ll be so helpful teaching her baby brother signs. Sheila aLivingFamily September 18, 2011 at 12:54 pm I have a little one due in early January and a daughter turning 2 first week in November. So yes, good timing for me too! And thanks for putting this on Sunday Surf so I could find it — I needed these excellent ideas. Thanks for sharing, Laura! I’ll definitely be linking to this in the future… Lauren @ Hobo Mama & NPN Hobo_Mama August 23, 2011 at 6:46 pm I love this post! I’m glad to see reassurances that we’ve done pretty well in transitioning our little big guy into the role of older sib, but I really appreciated the suggestions I hadn’t thought of as well. I’ll be passing along this link as a great resource to anyone welcoming a new baby into a family with other children!
