Wordless Wednesday: Attachment Care While You’re Away

This week we asked: Who else is attached to your child?

(Read more about providing consistent and loving care on our resource page, and enjoy this week’s articles on the theme.)

From Molly: “My mother-in-law wears our children, Phoenix (pictured above) and Lotus (pictured below).”

gma with Lotus
“The first time she babysat Lotus, Lotus dragged her Ergo to her grandmother when she was ready for a nap – how sweet is that? Lotus has spent the night with her a few times and they always share a bed, just like she does with us at home.”

Molly blogs at What Molly Thinks.

From Jennifer: “First is my brother, my boys’ Uncle Christopher. He frequently spends time with them just because, and is always good about engaging them. On this occasion we were on vacation, and L1 was missing his daddy and mommy just wasn’t cutting it. Uncle Christopher volunteered to lay down with him and follow Daddy’s bedtime routine.”

“Second is my cousin Kaelyn. We live states apart, but when we do see each other, she is always ready to lend a hand and make my boys feel special. This was her wearing L1 at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.”

Jennifer blogs at True Confessions of a Real Mommy.

From Charise: “Grandma and Grandpa will be staying with Baby for a night this weekend while we go to a wedding. Baby is very fortunate to have 6 loving grandparents who are overjoyed to drive in from other states to care for him.”

Charise blogs at I Thought I Knew Mama.

This article was really dear to me and really hit home. I am a back to work (full-time) AP mommy. I find it extremely hard at times. I don’t get much support in my community for breastfeeding, baby wearing so on… Its more just strange looks or “your still brestfeeding your 18 month old!?” I really make it a point to make sure my whole family is on board with AP. I got a hold of Natural parenting by Jan Hunt on CD and got everyone to listen to it. Was amaing 😀 My mom watches my daughter half time while I am at work and daycare the other. My mom wears my daughter out for walks and so on. I also closely watch what goes on at daycare, plus I go at noon for a nursing session. 🙂 This is our special connection time. 🙂 It IS possible to do this when you are determined and strong in your morals.
