This week we asked you to share your first haircuts with us

Sometimes a first haircut is traumatic enough that it calls for fries afterwards.

Shannon blogs at Pineapples & Artichokes.

He was 20 months old.

Jorje gave Sasha her first haircut after battling lice for over a month.
She and her husband hated how she looked with these too-short bangs, but..

they didn’t take long to grow back. This photo was taken just 10 days later.

Jorje has blogged about Attachment Parenting a Child with Lice at Momma Jorje.

Mikko wasn’t thrilled with his first haircut.

Mikko’s mama, Lauren, blogs at Hobo Mama — and her current 1-year-old, Alrik, hasn’t had his first haircut yet!

Tell us about the first haircuts in your family.

  1. Big Brother’s first haircut was SUCH a big deal – for mom and dad – not for him ;-)

  2. We had to “talk up” haircuts to my eldest for 2 weeks before we finally did it. I held her and he (a licensed hairstylist) cut her hair.

It was no big deal for my toddler. But our need arose kind of suddenly.

I thought I should save my daughter’s trimmings from her first hair cut. Why? ‘Cause my mom had done so with mine. I didn’t personally have much attachment to the first haircut, probably because they were more slight trimmings at first.
