Baby loves helping us in the kitchen using his learning tower also, and art projects are a saving grace for some quiet time. Rachael RachaelNevins May 16, 2012 at 11:11 am I especially like Shannon’s idea. My older boy is just past naps now, so I’ll be trying it out! Amy @ Anktangle anktangle May 16, 2012 at 3:11 pm So fun to see everyone’s routines! Routine is a big part of our life, too, and something I think doesn’t get enough credit for its ability to provide security and structure. I only wish I had known from the very beginning how much routine would make our lives easier! Kayla May 17, 2012 at 6:20 am With two tween boys (10-12) in the house, routine is hard to come by. Add the bonus factor of stepmama being a night owl and sleeping through the morning! Their dad has a solid schedule — wake up, work, come home, relax with beer, eat dinner, shower, sleep. We are generally relaxed, though. I’ve implemented a bedtime routine for all of us (adjusted for the boys’ changing sleep rhythm), and a quiet time where they just piddle around their bedroom cleaning up a bit. I use the time to get laundry caught up and clean my own room, too, to model efficiency. Summer is going to be difficult because they like to stay up very late (and be loud) and their dad needs the sleep, which is why I’m hoping to stick to the little routine we’ve had through their last bit of school year.
